Invisible Fence®, DogWatch®, Dog Guard®, PetSafe®: these are real companies with working equipment, and pretending otherwise would insult you. The differences that actually matter live in three places most sales pitches skip: the receiver on your dog's neck, the cost of keeping it running, and who answers the phone in year five.
We have installed Pet Stop since 2002, and we have repaired and serviced the other brands' systems the entire time. Wire breaks, dead transmitters, collars that stopped holding a dog: those service calls are where you learn what equipment is actually like to live with. What follows is that experience, not a brochure. Where a claim depends on a specific model or dealer, we say so, and we tell you what to ask.
A quick, fair orientation. All of these are underground-wire systems at heart, which means the wire is rarely what separates them. The receiver, the service model, and the ongoing costs are.
Four differences we will put our name on, because we live with them every day.
Every dog is different. A setting that stops one dog does nothing for the next. Pet Stop receivers run an unusually wide range, from levels many people cannot feel at the bottom to levels that hold determined working breeds, and we set it to your dog in person, in your yard. This is the single biggest reason we get called to replace other brands' systems: the dog habituated and the equipment had nowhere to go.
Pet Stop receivers either recharge on a cradle or run standard replaceable batteries you can buy from us or keep in a drawer. There is no battery plan required to keep your fence working, and no required monthly or annual fee of any kind on the system itself.
We repair and service most major brands, including Invisible Fence® brand, Dog Guard®, and PetSafe® systems. Brand-name dealers typically service their own brand. That difference tells you something about the model: we win business by fixing whatever is in your yard, and earning the upgrade later.
Pet Stop of Alabama is owner-operated, and the people who quoted your yard are the people who stand behind it. We have been here 32 years, trained nearly 10,000 dogs, and hold 800+ reviews at 4.9 stars. Whoever you choose, weigh who will actually show up in year five.
One more thing worth knowing: Pet Stop equipment is designed and manufactured in the USA. If where your equipment comes from matters to you, ask every company you call the same question.
Including us. These six answers will separate the quotes faster than any brochure, and any company worth hiring will answer them without flinching. Our answers are underneath each one.
Our answer: Yes. We repair and service most major brands. A company that only touches its own equipment has you locked in the day the check clears.
Our answer: Rechargeable receivers cost nothing per year in batteries. Replaceable-battery models use standard batteries, typically one every 2 to 3 months, available from us or kept on hand. No plan, no subscription.
Our answer: We do, in person, in your yard, matched to your dog, and we come back to adjust it if the dog changes. Pet Stop's range runs unusually wide in both directions.
Our answer: Our Link and UltraTuff receivers carry a lifetime receiver warranty. Other models carry two years. Ask every company for the warranty terms on the specific collar in your quote, not the brand's best one.
Our answer: No. Optional service plans exist if you want them, but your fence works without one, forever.
Our answer: We train your dog in your yard and come back if the dog needs more. Nearly 10,000 dogs so far. Training is where fences succeed or fail, so do not let anyone hand-wave this one.
Our column is fact. The other column is the honest answer: it varies by brand, model, and dealer, so the right move is to ask, and now you know what to ask.

If you already have an Invisible Fence® brand system in the ground, your wire and transmitter are probably fine. Pet Stop receivers work with most Invisible Fence® transmitters, including Boundary Plus® systems, which means you can fix the part that is frustrating you, the collar, without buying a new fence. We also repair wire breaks and failed transmitters on most brands.
See Invisible Fence® compatible options ›We quote most properties from satellite imagery, usually the same day you ask, and quote what your property actually needs. If another path genuinely fits you better, a physical fence, a GPS collar on open acreage, or keeping the system you already own, we will say so. We have written all of that down publicly, which is not something companies do when they are afraid of the comparison.
We would rather send you to the right answer than sell you the wrong one. That is how you stay in business here for 32 years.
The comparisons people are actually typing into Google, answered straight.
Bring us any other company's quote. We will price your property, answer all six questions on this page in writing, and tell you honestly where we stand.
