Why North Shelby Homeowners Choose an Electric Dog Fence

North Shelby is not one kind of yard. A half acre in Meadow Brook and five wooded acres off Dunnavant Valley Road are different jobs, and the ground between them runs from graded clay to solid rock. An electric fence follows the property you actually have, without changing how it looks.

๐Ÿก

No visible fence, no HOA hurdle

Nearly every neighborhood out here runs under an HOA with rules about what goes up in the yard. A hidden fence usually adds nothing to review or approve, because there is no visible structure going up.

โ›ฐ๏ธ

Rock, ravines, and wooded acreage

Past Brook Highland the ground stops cooperating. We bury boundary wire where soil allows and secure it another way where it will not, on rock, on steep grades, or along an existing fence line. The terrain changes how we install, not whether we can.

๐Ÿพ

Lots too big to fence any other way

Running a physical fence around an acre of wooded ground costs more than most people expect and takes the view with it. A hidden boundary gives your dog the whole property instead of a penned-off corner of it.

A straight shot down 280

Our office sits in Riverchase, at the bottom of the corridor. Everything from Inverness out to Chelsea Park is one road away, which is why service calls out here are routine for us rather than a trip we have to plan around.

Fast, no-cost estimates

Most North Shelby estimates are handled remotely using satellite and aerial imagery of your property. No waiting on a scheduled visit. Prefer someone on-site? Just ask.

Already have a system?

We service and repair existing hidden dog fences regardless of who installed them. Houses on 280 turn over often, so we pick up inherited systems out here all the time. Bring us what the last owner left behind and we will tell you what you have.

What North Shelby Homeowners Say

Three of the neighbors whose yards we have worked on along this corridor.

We’ve been Pet Stop customers for over 14 years, and couldn’t be happier with their service. Although we’ve only needed to call on them two or three times over the years, each time they were incredibly responsive, helpful, and professional.
Ken O. Eagle Point · Customer since 2010
We have used Pet Stop for about 20 years. They have always been great to work with, nice and knowledgeable.
Tina J. Brook Highland · Customer since 2005
While getting some large juniper bushes removed from the yard, a 20 year old Pet Stop fence line was broken, which was unavoidable after 20 years of plant growth. Pet Stop came out and fixed the line within a couple of working days.

North Shelby Dog Fence FAQ

The questions we hear most from homeowners along the 280 corridor.

Yes, and it is a good part of what we do out there. Lots in North Shelby run from half an acre in Meadow Brook to several acres off Dunnavant Valley Road, and there is no practical size limit on a boundary. We plan it from satellite and aerial imagery, so better than nine out of ten estimates are handled without waiting on a scheduled visit.
The boundary follows the property, not the other way around. Wire is buried where soil allows and secured another way where it will not, whether that means running it along an existing fence line, staking it at grade, or routing around a drop rather than through it. Rock and grade change how we install, not whether we can.
In most cases, yes. Because there is usually no visible structure going up, there is typically nothing for the HOA to review or approve. Covenants vary by neighborhood, so check yours, and if yours addresses pet containment specifically, tell us before your estimate and we will work within it.
Usually. We service and repair existing hidden dog fences regardless of who installed them, and Pet Stop collars can often be programmed to work with wire that is already in the ground. If the previous owner left equipment behind, send us photos or bring it by the office and we will tell you what you have before you spend anything.
Not on a complete new installation, no matter how far out you are. Travel only comes up on separate service calls more than 25 miles from our Riverchase office, and most of North Shelby sits inside that. Shield Plan members pay a lower travel rate when it does apply.
Two GentleSteps training visits about a week apart come with every new installation. We introduce the dog to the boundary, reward the right choice, and repeat it until turning away is automatic. Puppies are usually ready around three to four months old. The training is included, not an add-on.
