Why Birmingham Homeowners Choose an Electric Dog Fence

The city limits take in everything from turn-of-the-century streets on the mountain to postwar neighborhoods out toward Roebuck. Lot sizes, tree cover and terrain change block to block, and a hidden boundary is planned to the lot rather than to a standard yard size.

๐Ÿšถ

Planned to the lot, not to a template

Redmont Park and Forest Park sit on the slope with mature yards and long setbacks. Crestwood and Roebuck Springs are flatter and tighter. We plan the boundary from your actual property rather than a standard layout.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Nothing new for a historic district to review

Redmont Park, Forest Park, Highland Park and Roebuck Springs are among the many Birmingham neighborhoods with historic district status. A hidden fence usually means no new visible structure, so in most cases there is nothing to submit for review.

๐ŸŒณ

Comfortable with old trees and old yards

Many of these yards have had the same trees in them for the better part of a century. We route around established root systems and hand-bury where trenching would do damage.

๐Ÿ“

One crew, the whole city

Our Riverchase office covers the city limits end to end. The same two technicians who work Redmont Park work Roebuck Springs.

Fast, no-cost estimates

Most Birmingham estimates are handled remotely using satellite and aerial imagery of your property. No waiting on a scheduled visit. Prefer someone on-site? Just ask.

Already have a system?

We service and repair existing electric dog fences regardless of who installed them, common in older Birmingham homes carrying a system from a previous owner.

Birmingham Dog Fence FAQ

The questions we hear most from homeowners inside the Birmingham city limits.

The whole city. Redmont Park and Forest Park hold most of our Birmingham customers, but we have systems in Crestwood, Glen Iris, Roebuck Springs, Eastwood, Five Points South and roughly twenty other neighborhoods inside the city limits. No part of Birmingham is off our map.
In most cases, no. Because there's no new visible structure going up, there's typically nothing to submit for review to the historic commission. If your specific property has a covenant or review requirement that addresses pet containment, let us know before your estimate and we'll plan around it.
Where soil allows, wire is buried a few inches deep along the perimeter. Around mature trees or exposed roots common in Birmingham's century-old canopy, we hand-bury or route around rather than trenching straight through.
Yes. Birmingham's housing turns over often enough that plenty of homes already have a system from a previous owner or an earlier installer. We troubleshoot, repair, and reprogram existing systems regardless of who originally installed them, and can upgrade the collar or transmitter without re-running the boundary wire if it's still intact.
Most residential installations are completed in a single day, including wire burial, transmitter setup, and initial collar fitting. Birmingham's smaller lots often mean a quicker job than a larger acreage property, but we'll give you a realistic estimate up front.
The transmitter loses signal without power, which means the boundary stops working until power is restored. We offer a battery backup option for the transmitter for homes that lose power often, and can talk through whether it makes sense for your setup during your estimate.
